I had a chat with Anne Hathaway.

With the shock, surprise, disappointment, or the entire opposite of all three, of whatever it is that has been caused by the recent Oscar nominations announcement, way past everybody now (or at least to those who give a shit about it), with looking for…

exhibit

I am exhibiting an installation Unsa ang Dagway sa Kalinaw? Ngin i palas a Kalilintad? Ano ang anyo ng Kapayapaan? at the newly opened mcad, the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design at the College of St. Benilde, De La Salle University system, P. Ocampo St., Pasay City. The exhibition and accompanying symposium on Designing Peace: The Role of the Imagination in Conflict Resolution will be held on the 5th of February 2009.

My work is an exploration the forms, shapes and faces that Peace assumes in children’s imagination across areas devastated by armed conflict in Mindanao. I visited schools in Central Mindanao and asked the pupils one basic question: Ano ang anyo ng Kapayapaan? From blank pieces of paper, there emerged myriad expressions of hopes, dreams and aspirations for a peaceful Mindanao –free of violence, conflict and constant fear.

Valley Golf expels De la Paz for causing brawl

(Dated Jan 11, but learned of it just today. The bloggers I scan (and the chronic email forwarders) who were taken in by the daughter’s version of the event did not do as a good job of updating me of this development as compared to when the story first broke out. Reprinting the news report in case you missed it, too…)

MANILA, Philippines – Valley Golf Course and Country Club officials on Sunday expelled Delfin de la Paz from its roster of members and suspended Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman Sr. in connection with their scuffle at the club’s last month.

In a two-page resolution, the golf course’s board of directors sanctioned De la Paz for “disorderly behavior” when he instigated the brawl with Mayor Nasser Pangandaman Jr. of Masiu in Lanao del Sur, his brother Mohammed Hussein, and their bodyguards.

The Valley Golf officials “banned for life” nonmembers Nasser Jr. and Hussein for “unruly behavior” at the golf course. More.

High on the Hog

by: Thomas M. Rickersbr /br /I’ll never forget my first time. It started out a little rough: herky-jerky stops and starts, flailing legs, panicky sweating and thoughts of God, I hope no one is watching this. But once I had nailed down the basics, once I was finally out there with the throttle open, leaning into the curves, it hit me: I was riding a motorcycle, my motorcycle. It was pure, childlike joy.br /br /a href=”http://www.the-american-interest.com/ai2/article.cfm?Id=526amp;MId=22″Read more/a.div class=”blogger-post-footer”img width=’1′ height=’1′ src=’https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3761545252616175859-7263448345573361686?l=mcdavao.blogspot.com’//div

cat on prozac

Natarajan doesn’t like the arrival of four new fur balls in the house. He doesn’t hide his feelings about this. He is peeing everywhere. My slippers, magazines, the stove, the old TV, the keyboard of my video editing machine, the list goes on. It’s his way of saying, “I’m the only raj in this place.” He doesn’t like to be cuddled nowadays and prefers to sulk in a corner.
“I’ll prescribe Prozac,” the vet told me. Dang, my cat is experiencing the blues.
Natarajan is slowly becoming like his human.
