“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it? For if he lays the foundation and is not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule him, saying, `This fellow began to build and was not able to finish.’”

From deep forays into Italian cuisine, I ventured into the French arena this time. Too bad though, because I didn’t bring a camera (again!) when I had an intimate dinner with friends and guests at Claude’s Le Café de Ville last Wednesday.
Living in Davao for many, many years now, Monsieur Claude Le Neindre has given […]

Before I came here, Athens showed me a video about a guy who carries a sign with “FREE HUGS” on it. I was somewhat excited upon learning that everything was shot at Oz. In a way, I had an idea on how Oz would be.
I forgot about it until I was at Federation Square this afternoon. I was really surprised and very happy when I saw the “FREE HUGS” bloke.
Luckily, I got my camera to prove it.

To a greater task I knew not then;
In this sea of humanity,
You called us to be fishers of men.

Disclaimer: Random thoughts, ramblings and whatnot.
After that Manila Penn incident, I’m forced to think aloud about the state of our State.
The government, obviously, is tired of everything that these subsversives are doing and decided to follow their own ultimatums for a change. Unlike previous standoffs where deadlines were given, lapsed, extented, lapsed and extended again, this time, dealine was hit and the place was stormed. Bravo. Bravo.
Journalists being taken into custody. Well, they were asked to leave, and stop covering tactical movements of the government troops. They didn’t listen. Come on, common decency dictates that you dont take footage of a tactical action while it is being planned and executed. If they got shot, they’ll probably blame the military for not protecting them. Sensationalism is the name of the game here with Philippine media I guess. Any civilized country in the world, if there is a tactical action being planned, media are told to stay back during execution (for a good reason) as not to leak the plans to those inside… YES FOLKS! THEY HAVE TVs AND RADIOS TOO.
Human rights groups calling the curfew a violation of human rights… pfft… stay home, it’s not like people have any business wandering around the streets after midnight, especially after something like this. Its for your own safety people! listen, and THINK for once.
“Threats” of martial law being screamed by watchdogs and the like… come on… Martial law? Military control? Paranoid delusions of people who live in an age gone by. The Philippines is TRYING to become a developed country, what do you think will happen to our investors? to our imports? exports? I think martial law and messing up all our progress up is the last thing on the mind of our president right now.
Caretaker government? OMG… people… wake up… stop the delusions of taking over… right now… IF you want to replace the people in power, wait till the next election… now… I know this might be hard… but… FIELD A SINGLE CANDIDATE… dont bicker and squabble among yourselves and field 4-6 different candidates.
And finally, to the Filipino people… Bravo, Bravo and all of you (us) I guess, can only be described as… well.. I guess we’re all tired of all these attempts, and we’ve gotten smarter… Gone are the days where candidates can just run and win because they’re famous. Gone are the days where every single rally was attended by a lot of people.. I guess that jsut says that we have a lot more educated people, and people with jobs, not have too much spare time on our hands.
This is getting a bit long…
