Guy on Top…

Another facebook incident… Chatting with another buddy about facebook again, when this whoops WTF line slipped out again. Take note that this is a guy talking about another guy, and well… all in good fun! I blacked out the names of both parties just to be safe, but you know who you are! heh heh heh

You got blogged!

The 1st Mindanao Bloggers Summit just got more interesting. In the hopes of promoting the Summit and the blogs of Mindanao, the organizers have come up with a unique blogging contest for everyone: You got blogged! DigitalFilipino.com / MinanaoBloggers.com Review-a-Blog Competition. The official announcement is on this page.

Check it out: three winners will get $150, $100 and $50 to start with. Depending on how many more sponsors come on board, the prizes just might go higher!

Are you a Mindanaoan blogger? Submit your blog to the Mindanao Blog Directory and get a chance to have your blog reviewed! Winning reviews will also mean prizes for the owners or authors of the reviewed blogs. And you can join the competition as well — but try not to review your own blog. ;)

This competition is co-presented by DigitalFilipino.comjoin the DigitalFilipino.com Club! The “You got blogged!” title was Migs‘ idea, and the link badge was designed and created by Jehz.

Shameless Plug

I knew I forgot something… Anyways, Me, Myself and I decided to start another blog and I think Im running out of split personalities in which to blog in. I usually get in character when typing up a blog, but sometimes, things just get too messy and I forget which blog Im typing on (the consequence of having more blogs than fingers on a hand).

Anyways, feel free to visit my new (one week old) blog. The tianx project. Nothing fancy, just some stuff to make you laugh, or go WTF.

Poor Guy….

Well… I guess I know that chatting with buddies online is supposed to be “sacred” and all that. But, some lines are just too good to pass up. Take for instance this screen grab I took a couple of hours ago. Me and a friend were talking about the crappy-ness of social networking sites when the Facebook topic popped up (see screen grab). Of course when taken in context, it’s all good… but if you take out all the other parts and just leave… “Hey! Join Facebook, I need friends.” That just sounds too funny and too sad to pass up!

Will booking a trip online save you money?

Fixing a Broken Heart

Too bad I didnt have Summer with me (yes, I named my camera Summer), would have been a clearer picture as this one was taken with my phone, still it’s pretty visible at 1.3 megapixels. Anyways, was aboard a jeepney earlier headed to the mall when I saw this rather interesting sign hanging in the middle of the jeepney. It says “We buy and Repair, Broken Heart” soo…. to those that suffer from love hurts, problems or issues, try and look for this jeep (route 3) and maybe the driver take care of that problem for you… at first glance… it does say cool… interesting… but in the end, it’s still a WTF… hahaha

Subject Is too Dark

One of my brother’s friends kept bugging me earlier to take his picture, so I happily obliged him with a quick snapshopt. As seen below.

When I checked the viewfinder to see what auto settings were used, it was too funny to pass up so I decided to take a picture of the status screen to share with everyone. See the exclamation point on the upper part? ! Subject is too dark. Hahahaha…. Well… who would I guessed it… I have a racist camera here… WTF…

Moral of the story? Don’t bug me for pictures when I’m half asleep.

Mocha Botique

Went to Victoria Plaza last night and took my camera out for a spin, this time taking pictures of my Brother’s recently opened botique named “Mocha” The photos are a bit too big to post here on blogger (they’d mess up my template royally) so I uploaded them to flickr and you can check them out HERE.

And as a shameless plug, if you’re ever in Victoria Plaza, don’t forget to drop by and check out the botique, they have a lot of nice stuff for women.

It’s crunch time!

Crunches, that is! For those of you who want to get abs like this — or at least a flat tummy — here’s a proven method. If you persevere and don’t skip sessions, results can be realized in less time than you might think. But no, this isn’t a get-abs-quick scheme. Like I said, it’s […]

Myspace Snafu

Well, it seems that Myspace has done it again. The team behind the genius that’s called Myspace probably got sick of everyone blogging about the iPhone and whatever iThinger they could think of, so they just up and went and banned the letter “i”….. for a short period of time, Myspace actually replaced all instances of the letter “i” with 2 “..” dots. They seem to have fixed it now, but not without some very very interesting screen grabs of posts that became FUBAR’d because of well…. stupidity on Myspace’s part.

Oh God, I’m back! (With tons of explaining to do…)

I have been going around Mindanao and have had little time to be in front of the computer in the most comfortable blogging position (which I argue is absolutely necessary, as I’m sure some of you might agree)! Moreover, I have been struggling to get some music back into my system at late since […]

Simpsonized!

Got bored, decided to transform my face (kinda) into one of the simpson characters, well… it’s pretty much automated, but it’s still fun nonetheless.

The Spro Effect

Another day, another coffeeshop raided for photos. This time we went to Spro (which btw in this geek’s opinion serves teh best lattes in town) located @ Gen. Luna street.

The place was kinda quiet, which gave me all the freedom in the world to walk around and shoot whatever I wanted, but I ended up with another close-up of my cup with some pretty centered focus with an artistically out of focus background.

In the words of Borat… Very Nice!

Winning the 1st race of your life

To my friend and fellow blogger Dennis, Happy Conception Day!!!

Well, he did say that he was conceived a couple of decades ago on this day. :)

I have a similar anecdote. My folks say I was conceived in Rome when they were on their honeymoon. So they’d wanted to name me “Jerome” — also because they liked J-names — but my cousin beat me to it. Hahaha! He was born in May, and I was born… well whaddaya know! I was born in July. ;)

Camera Time @ Basti’s

Like an eager little boy I was tinkering with my camera the whole night at Basti’s brew. Not really knowing what I was doing, I took shots of almost everything, trying out all of the settings and buttons.
It seems that I have a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG way ahead of me still, but with this chronicle, hopefully we’ll see some improvements down the line.
Here’s a nice “artsy-fartsy” shot taken tonight, not too shabby for a first-time DSLR user.

D40x! Here at last!

Finally, after a few weeks of thinking stuff over… going over budget concerns… facing lack-of-stock problems… My new camera is finally here! Too bad I dont have photos to show for it, but worry not, as soon as I go round the field taking shots, I’ll be sure to post them here :))

That’s it for now, time to play with my camera!

Second Davao blog party?

People have been asking me when The Usual Suspects will organize a sequel to the Davao Blog Party #1. Well, let’s see now… Why not a get-together in time for Kadayawan? It doesn’t really have to be something that’s so planned like the first one. We could just meet up somewhere during the Kadayawan festivities, right?

What say you, my fellow Dabawenyo bloggers?

Influenced by the project

Ok, the blog’s not even a day old and we’ve already made some people slip up and experience their own WTF moments as seen from this chat transcript from a friend. It’s not a fully blown WTF moment, but it’s close. Still… Here’s to sodomy and all the fun times to be had! Dont forget to click the image to enlarge.
Lots of thanks to Jim for the screenshot.

WTF Moment #2

Well… this is actually WTF moment #1, but it’s the second post, so it follows… (Taken from my other blog btw)

We were ordering lunch earlier (minding our own business) at a fast food joint in a local mall when suddenly out from nowhere this girl steps up to us and takes our food tray. Of course we were dumbstruck as we switched stares amongst each other and the offending person. Due to the sheer noise of the place (not to mention the people) I distinctly remembered muttering something along the lines of “Uhhh… miss?” by then, she returned our blank stares and said to us (translated) “Are you using this? Mind if I use it? Thanks.” All the while my mind was STILL trying to figure out what in the heck had happened. Definitely a WTF moment right there… And to top it off, a minute or two later, a little brown cockroach skittered on the counter right before us as the food was being served….
WTF….

Si Ako

Ako si Mandaya Moore-Orlis, ang bayot sa bukid. You can call me Mandy.

At eto pa.

Ang name ng salon? PHILOSOPHY SPA.

First Post! Sodomized!

Ok, first post, first WTF of the blog I guess… I was chatting with a good friend the other day when this really really strange question popped out of nowhere…
(check image… read it and weep)
Apparently she had just finished reading the massive payouts that the catholic church has done over the past few weeks to pay for those that were traumatized and sodomized by priests in various states in the USA.
That’s it for now!

Davao Blogspace is back online!

At last, I’ve been able to get the Davao Blogspace — this blog’s big brother — up and running again! Whew!! I’ve tried to put it back to its original form, and I think I’ve managed just that. However, I’m now thinking of redesigning the aggregator site… Anyone care to help me out?

Also, I’m happy to announce that the DVO Bloggers Network now has one more contributor in its stable of bloggers. Please welcome Mandaya Moore!!! Oh I’m sorry, it’s Moore-Orlis now. I’ll let him do his own introduction, because frankly I wouldn’t know how to, he/she is so complex… ;)

Kadayawan sa Dabaw 2007: “Lumadnong Kagikan, Mabungahong Kinaiyahan, Gasa sa Kahitas-an”

Quick Evolution of Blogs

For a long time it was all right for a woman to keep a diary, but it sounded too fruity for men.

So men decided to call it a journal , now sensitive men can set down their thoughts without appearing too sensitive.

But that wasn’t enough, even though they didn’t want to appear too sensitive, they still wanted people to know what they were thinking, so they renamed it to blogging.

Now, Everyone knows everyone else’s innermost thoughts, criticisms, likes and dislikes, but then they no longer call it a diary or a journal, but a blog. Just a change in name, and everyone’s ok with it.

Isn’t it time you made one for yourself?

The Usual Suspects

When our group made a splash in the Davao blogging scene last 17 March 2007, we made such a wonderful mess that bloggers started pointing fingers in our direction when people asked about blog-related activities here.

“Who organized the blog party?” “Who came up with this seminar?” “Who’s bright idea is this blogging event?” And in answer: “the usual suspects.”

Hence the name of this group of bloggers in Davao City, The Usual Suspects™. We are: Andrew, Dennis, Dom, Jun, Kim, Marc, and Ria (you’ll find our links on the blogroll). I guess I’m the de facto head honcho of the bunch, but that’s only because of generational seniority. But in terms of blogging, Andrew and Dennis surpass me by a few Zodiacs.

We come from different backgrounds, aspire to various dreams, but we are of the same mind when it comes to our goal: to enhance and push forward the Davao blogosphere. During the first-ever Davao bloggers party last March, we were pleasantly surprised that we were able to gather more than 50 people together. This gave us the inspiration to organize more stuff to do for local bloggers.

And not only that! We’re also gearing up for the heightened awareness of blogging as a communications tool among the city’s businesses. We’ve been getting requests for how-to seminars, etc. And we’re going to do just that in the near future.

Care to join us?
